Each family is encouraged to participate in one or the other.

  1. Senior cadets are going to the BWCA the first full week in June. Lots of planning and organization is still needed for the last 2 meetings in May before the trip.

  2. Junior cadets and those not going to the BWCA are invited to go camping at the Beaver Valley camp the weekend of June 8th thru the 10th. We will stay in the same spot we did last Fall.

Our first meeting is a week from tomorrow at the school cafeteria at 6:30 pm. I want to cover some points from our planning meeting.

  1. National Dues for 2017/2018 are $30 per cadet and $30 for each dad. The Troop will cover the cost of each dad.

  2. We have decided to NOT sell wreaths and poinsettias this year due to lack of participation and not receiving a big enough return on our investment. Instead we are asking for a $100 program fee per family. This will replace what we earned in wreath sales. There may also be some added cost to each family for camping trips to cover the cost of the food.

    Please note that we made these changes to make covering the costs easier. I in no way intend to deprive any child from participating in the program. If there is a hardship, talk to me so we can work something out.

  3. All dads will be taking part in the training/teaching program throughout the year.

  4. Uniforms - We have them and we will use them. All boys are expected to be wearing the green TSG supplied t-shirt at all meetings. All dads are to wear the TSG polo if they have them. If you don’t have these, please let me know and we will remedy the problem.

On Saturday the 14th, please come and pick up your wreaths to deliver to your buyers, after the 8:00 am Mass. On Sunday the 15th we will fulfill orders placed at St. Agnes.

There will be a Virtus training session on Saturday, November 14, in Schuler Hall following the 8:00 am Mass. If you have not yet gotten Virtus trained, now is the time!

Tuesday, November 17, is our final meeting of the year! Come build a Nerf-dart blow gun, and use it in the Capture the Flag battle in the gym afterward.

On Saturday, December 5, the poinsettias will be delivered to St. Agnes. We don’t have a delivery time yet, but if you ordered poinsettias, plan on coming by to pick them up.

Sunday, December 6, is our final Donut Sunday for the year. Please come and help!

For the April 7 and April 21 meetings, Junior Cadets will learn about knife safety. Dads should bring along a pocket knife.

April 12 is our troop Doughnut Sunday.

Our climbing activity at Vertical Endeavors is on April 25.

We will have a family troop activity in May.

Our Southern Voyage adventure will be June 17-20. We will camp overnight at Wild River State Park Tuesday night, canoe down the Saint Croix Wednesday until Friday, and depart for home Saturday morning.

  1. We are not meeting this Tuesday. Our first meeting is 1/14/14. We will start the new meeting schedule in February.
  2. Our doughnut Sunday is 1/12/14. Look for a sign-up email.
  3. This Month’s campout is 1/17-1/19. We will be exploring Mille Lacs Kathio State Park. Remember, space is limited, and if there isn’t enough interest and adult volunteers we will have to cancel.
  4. I need to compile an updated Troop roster so we can finish our registration and start ordering uniforms and handbooks.

Finally, January is officially our hard launch of the troop! There will be a lot of activity over the next couple months, so hold on to your hats!
